This unit, developed by CIE and co-published by the National Center for History in the Schools at UCLA, provides a first hand look, through historical primary sources, at the rights accorded to women by Islam, at how gender issues were actually addressed in classical Muslim society, and at the diverse roles that Muslim women played historically.
